Job Summary

Performs activities necessary for the efficient manufacture and delivery of Nordson products. The requirement is to have a flexible work force that can respond appropriately to changing customer requirements.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

\n
• Program, Setup/Operate, CNC and conventional machines, their attachments and accessories.
  
  \n
  • Multi Axes Lathes & Star Swiss Lathes (Knowledge of Fanuc Controller a Plus)
  \n
  • Manual Mills/ Lathes Machines
  \n
  • Grinding Machines (Knowledge of Centerless & Point Grinding a Plus)
  \n
  • CNC Horizontal Machine Centers
  \n
  • CNC Vertical Machine Centers
  \n
  \n
\n
• Ability to determine optimum machining process utilizing CNC and/or Manual Machines to meet blueprint specifications
\n
• Machine shop theory and practices
  
  • Turning, milling, drilling, tapping, grinding, etc.
  \n
\n
• Knowledge and application of basic shop measuring techniques
  
  • Calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauge blocks
  \n
\n
• Blueprint reading and ability to determine
  
  \n
  • Optimized sequence of operations and setup requirements including raw material preparation
  \n
  • In-process dimensions and tolerances required to finish part to specs
  \n
  \n
\n
• Readily able to make different kinds of parts
  
  • Low Volume / High Mix
  \n
\n
• Troubleshoot and take corrective actions to control machining processes
  
  \n
  • Detect tool wear/breakdown
  \n
  • Metal cutting process-depth of cut, chip information, etc.
  \n
  • Work/Tool holding methods
  \n
  \n
\n
• Machine shop safety procedures
\n
• Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on machines/equipment
\n
• Knowledge of layout techniques
\n
• Use of hand tools
\n
• Other duties as assigned
\n

Education and Experience Requirements

\n
• High School diploma plus technical training or relevant experience associated with the task to be performed.
\n
• 3 to 5 years Machinist experience.
\n

\n

Preferred Skills and Abilities

\n
• Skilled in the use of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and optical comparators.
\n
• Ability to read and understand blueprints to manufacture parts to engineering specifications.
\n
• Technical Ability - effectively apply written/verbal instructions from procedures, documents and blueprints, etc.
\n
• Ability to Learn - assimilating and apply new, job related information in a timely manner
\n
• Adaptability - maintaining effectiveness in a changing environment, assignments, responsibilities and/or priorities
\n
• Basic Computer Skills

Manufacturing environment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
